Fibromyalgia

The Silent Illness Syndrome

Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain illness also known as "the invisible illness." Fibromyalgia is one of the top most common chronic pain illnesses in the world, affecting about 10 million people in the US and up to 6% of the population worldwide. While it mostly affects women, at a rate of 75–90%, it also affects men and children and has no specific nationality.

Subsequently, Fibromyalgia is classified not as a disease, but as a syndrome. Why? Fibromyalgia is widespread body pain that affects each of the four quadrants of the human body, but does not cause any diseases in the body. It is, however, all the medications that you will be prescribed to manage the fibromyalgia that will cause other health issues. This issue is why learning about essential oils could be beneficial in your life, and you can learn more about this in our "Essential Oils" section. Keep in mind that there are several tests, x-rays, and doctor appointments that you will endure to rule out other diseases before a diagnosis can be made.

What Is Fibromyalgia Doc? What Doctors Won't Tell You.

If you are one of the thousands living with Fibromyalgia and you want answers to the "how and why's" then you have come to the right place. When you live with chronic pain every single day of your life, all the information you can get is priceless. But only if you're getting your information from someone who lives with FMS such as myself or a medical professional (and we'll talk about that a little later in a separate post) because as we all know if you live with Fibromyalgia getting a diagnosis can take years of going through pain and other medical diagnoses before you're diagnosed with Fibromyalgia aka FMS. But, again, we'll get into that in another post and try to understand why it is that a lot of Dr.'s don't seem to know a lot about Fibromyalgia, the silent illness.

Why A Natural Holistic Approach Might May Be A Good Alternative For Chronic Pain Sufferers

I personally love Dr. Axe and have seen some real results while following his advice and knowledge when it comes to living with this silent illness. If you watched the video for "What is Fibromyalgia Doc?" then you now know why it takes so long for relief and why you left the doctor's office the same way you came in. Until you finally find the right doctor, both medically and holistically, he/she is a knowledgeable and well-trained person who wants to help you on a path that feels better.
